JCI starts the Limited Sales of the Mobile Internet "b-mobile" Starter Package

     Japan Communications Inc. (JCI, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, Japan, President : Mr. Seiji Sanda) announced to start the limited period and quantity sales of the "b-mobile", starter package named "'b-mobile hours' 50 hour limited package" enabling Internet access by notebook PC or PDA anywhere.

     This will be available through consumer electronics mass merchandisers allover Japan, online shopping sites, JCI's online shop "b-market" (http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/market/)^*1" etc. for a period from September 23 (Fri.) to December 31 (Sat.), 2005 and the sales will be finished at the time when the quantity reached 10,000 sets. The price is open (online ("b-market") sales price in Japan is ¥19,800).

     This "b-mobile hours" is the all-in-one PHS data communication card with a package of data communication charge billable per 1 min^*2, Internet access charge etc. and its "150 hour package" was launched on March 18 (Fri.), 2005. (Online ("b-market") sales price in Japan is ¥29,800.).

     This product is designed to be able to use the communication time effectively by 1 min while maintaining the advantages of the existing "b-mobile" such as easy start of mobile Internet by purchasing package, easy Internet access only by clicking etc.

     Now an Internet has become an indispensable tool for both business and life, however, the average amount of time spent for mobile Internet is becoming relatively short as pleasant broadband environments are provided in both the workplace and house. On the other hand, the need for mobile Internet by a notebook PC during a business trip or visit to the customers itself is still growing.

     Under such background, "b-mobile hours" has been successful in gaining notebook PC or PDA users' support as the product meeting user needs for accessing an Internet at anytime freely and is being used by more than 10,000 users (as of September 4 (Sun.), 2005) since its launching on March 18 (Fri.), 2005.

     JCI launches ""b-mobile hours" 50 hour limited package" as a starter package for "b-mobile hours" in order to recommend its advantage of wide Internet accessibility to more potential users. This starter package enables the PHS data communication for 50 hours while maintaining the basic features of "b-mobile hours".

     After the expiration of this starter package, renewal license for 120 hours (online ("b-market") sales price in Japan is ¥19,950) and 30 hours (online ("b-market") sales price in Japan is ¥5,800)^*3 will be available and it can also be switched to the PHS or public wireless LAN flat-rate service as well.

     Further, a coupon^*4 advantageous for the renewal is included in this starter package. For example, if "120 hour renewal license" is purchased, 10 bonus hour is available.

     JCI Senior Vice President Mr. Yasushi Kudo commented on the launch of this starter package that "Mobile Internet was difficult to understand because its contract and settings were complicated at the time when "b-mobile" was launched. Therefore, mobile Internet wasn't so used even though there were potential needs for that. "b-mobile" is the result of accumulated design and development to solve such problems and enable quick start of the mobile Internet only by purchasing package. With this starter package as a start, we would like to promote the mobile Internet by obtaining users' understanding of its easiness to use.

     JCI is providing package product for personal users with which anyone can enjoy wireless data communication easily.

     ^*1 Will be available from October 1 (Sat.), 2005 at the "b-market".
     ^*2 Will be billed at 3 mins first at each connection and then at 1 min increment.
     ^*3 Available only at the "b-market".
     ^*4 Some renewal licenses will be excluded.

• The maximum validity period is 600 days for "'b-mobile hours'150 hour limited package" and 200 days for "'b-mobile hours' 50 hour limited package" each. However, "'b-mobile hours' 150 hour limited package" will become invalid after 365 days passed from its last used date regardless of the remaining hours.
