     I'd like to give a brief address in commemoration of an issuance of the PHS MoU Group News No. 50.

     The PHS MoU Group was officially established in July, 1996, however, prior to that the Preparatory Group had been established in July, 1995 and started preparation work for that. This 1995 was the year in which the PHS public service was inaugurated in Japan first in the world. The first number of the PHS MoU Group News was issued in October, 1995 as part of the activities of that Preparatory Group. From the first until the latest number, it's been basically issued bimonthly. The reason why we could keep on issuing this smoothly so far would be a great effort of the successive chairpersons and members of the Promotion Working Group (PWG) / News Editorial Group who have been involved in editorial work of this PHS MoU Group News as well as its readers' support so I'd like to take this occasion to express my hearty gratitude to them.

     At the beginning, the PHS MoU Group News was in the form of the printed matter, however, along with the spread of the Internet a distribution by e-mail (Mail Magazine) began from No. 40 and further, we stopped distributing the printed matter from No.42. At present the total circulation reaches nearly 1,000.

     We will continue to provide the persons concerned and interested in the PHS industry with an information on its world trend, new terminals (PSs), application examples etc. from now on. So that we'd sincerely appreciate your constant support to us.
