Real-time Check Guest Room Cleaning Status by PHS


   NEC Corporation and NEC System Integration & Construction, Ltd. have jointly constructed PHS network infrastructure at the hotel Nikko Osaka to improve service quality to the hotel’s guests. The network introduces a system to check the cleaning status of guest rooms, using PHS handsets with browser functionality, and an in-house IP-Phone system based on wireless LAN.
Features of this system include

1. “PHS Room Indicator” to enable effective Room Cleaning
   A "PHS Room Indicator" to enable a real-time check on the guest room's cleaning status using a PHS handset with browser functionality has been developed in cooperation with the hotel Nikko Osaka.
   With the introduction of this system, room cleaning staff can immediately understand which rooms to clean and they can receive instructions and confirmation even as they move through the hotel. This has improved the working efficiency

2. Network Cost Reduction by in-house IP-Phone System with Wireless     LAN
   Different departments of the hotel in adjacent buildings use wireless LAN as an in-house IP-Phone system. With the introduction of PHS cell stations (CSs) in the buildings, PHS handsets are available in both buildings and across the buildings. This has reduced network costs by eliminating cost both exclusive and outside lines.
