New PHS handset AirH"PHONE by JRC


JAPAN RADIO Co., Ltd (JRC), one of the PHS handset venders, launched the new PHS handset, “AirH"PHONE” AH-J3001V/J3002V (J3001V/J3002V from now on) on April 1,2003 through the DDI POCKET distribution.

J3001V is a standard model and J3002V is a backside display model. Both handsets are clamshell type appearance.
[Browser function]

    A standard Internet web browser is installed in J3001V/J3002V. The web browser applies to CompactHTML based web pages, so it can browse not only dedicated web sites for “AirH" PHONE” but also many other web sites for mobile terminal.
    In addition, it also applies to SSL (Secure Socket Layer) server authentication, therefore users can browse online shopping web sites which require high level security.

[E-mail function]

    AH-J3001V/J3002V also have a mailer which complies with SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) and POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3).
    Three E-mail accounts including one for “AirH"PHONE” E-mail service presented by DDI-POCKET can be registered in the mailer. User can receive and confirm all of E-mails for these three accounts anytime and anywhere.

[Connectivity with PC]

    J3001V/J3002V have a MINI-B type USB (Universal Serial Bus) connector. By connecting PC and J3001V/J3002V with an ordinary USB cable, a wireless internet access by the PC, and backup and restore of PS (Personal station) data, such as E-mail, phone book, music and photograph are available.
    Additionally, J3001V/J3002V can be charged from a PC via USB cable.
    These USB facilities will be available after installing USB device driver into the PC. Provided USB device driver is complied with both of Windows and Mac OS platform.

[Display function]

    The main display of J3001V/J3002V is 2-inch (128x160 dots) 65,536 colors SF (Super Fine) LCD that can display photographs and graphics vividly. Applicable graphics formats are JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP.
    J3002V has backside monochrome LCD witch displays various information.

[International roaming function]

    Another feature of J3001V/J3002V is international roaming.
    When a user makes an application for roaming service to DDI-POCKET, the user can use J3001V/J3002V in the service area of First International Telecom Corp. (FITEL), PHS carrier in Taiwan.
    The user use voice communication and E-mail service via FITEL network. Additionally, web browsing is available by connecting with PC via USB cable.
